Water! Part 2!
Before you read today's post, it might be helpful if you've read last week's post: https://bfthsboringblog.blogspot.com/2026/04/water.html. It's not essential (maybe it is?), but it will be helpful (definitely helpful).
So what has happened since last week? Well my initial post DID get some viewing. It might have helped that I found the email address of the president of Aqua and got an email response from her which told me I should expect a call from someone in her office. Of course this was AFTER I had gotten voice mail from that person in corporate (L) as well as a local customer service rep (R). Both of whom I called back and told the WHOLE story to voicing my concerns. And THEN I emailed the president again and she replied: "I agree that the customer communication needs to improve and am glad you brought to my attention. I can assure you that Aqua PA leadership is aware and has already jumped on evaluating our current procedures and improving them with this in mind. I asked to be updated when they’ve done so."
I'm doubting as if she's been updated because once again we have a communication problem. After my calls last Thursday, I heard nothing. Supposedly an appointment was going to be set up to fix the meter, but...
Then on Tuesday afternoon my husband got a call from the guy (M) who came out to our house last week. (The one with the cell phone number that is NOT tied to the corporation so you have no idea if he's legit or not...of course now we know.) I hope I'm getting this right (because I heard about this from my husband while I was working in the office in NJ, so I wasn't there for the call and while I tried to focus, I was in an open office space), Mike had been told NOT to schedule an appointment because one had already been scheduled. (I'm not sure if by customer service or by corporate.) This was news to us because we've had NO contact since last Thursday. (As a matter of fact, I was going to follow up today.) My husband tells him we've gotten no communication and he SHOULD schedule something because we want this resolved. (Well maybe I don't because I've been paying next to nothing for over a year and just went back to look at the old bills, which I honestly haven't done and saw that since DECEMBER 2024 our "actual" meter read has been the same...they think we've used NO WATER since December 2024. Maybe I should have paid closer attention to this whole thing, but really? Shouldn't that be on them?) So M says he'll try to get something scheduled this week, possibly Thursday. (A week after this all began...at least on our end.)
Other items of note that apparently came up on this call. M had been at our home previously and HAD rung the doorbell but no one answered. Which makes me wonder WHEN was this? And why at that point didn't someone from corporate contact us? (I mean they have my phone number and my email!) Why didn't he leave a note (not that pesky 10 day shut off notice) back then? It also makes me wonder WHY he didn't ring the bell the second time he came (last Thursday), but let's face it, this is and has been a total clusterFunk (and I don't mean funk).
So it's a week to the day when this all began. Would someone be coming out today? Again, no communication.
Then before 9 this morning, M called again. He needs a helper for this project. (It requires someone going into a crawl space and M isn't doing that.) This helper (R) has a lot of other projects today, but they are going to try to squeeze us in this morning. Since he said they've be here in a hour or two, I'm guessing between 10-12. (Again that's just a guess.) He's also indicated that this shouldn't take too long. Let's keep those fingers crossed. Actually let's see if they actually show up. (I'm pretty sure M will.)
And then let's see what the actual reading is. (I can tell you it will no longer be 537100.) I will TRY not to have a heart attack when I see how much water has been used since December of 2024 that we have NOT been billed for. (Remember we have a pond in our backyard that has been drained and FILLED twice since that time.)
Stay tuned for updates in the saga of WTF water!
UPDATE #1: They are here and working. Turns out towards the end of last year, a subcontractor was hired to replace the transmitter (?) in our area and replace the meter because the new transmitter wouldn't work with the old meter. Guess what wasn't done? The meter WASN'T replaced and the transmitter was not wired correctly either. Shouldn't it have been a red flag that after subcontracted work was done, no water was used (according to the meter)?
UPDATE #2: They are done. (Good job M & R). They took out the meter, put in the new meter and hooked it all up. So we are starting over. They look at the meter that they took out and compare it to what the last reading was. This will determine how much water we've used in the last 17 or so months. The meter is exactly the same as it has been since December 2024. How much water did we use? According to their equipment nothing...and that's exactly what I'm willing to pay.
