Let's Talk Pope

I'm going to say it yet again:  I am NOT a Catholic.  I AM a Christian.  And if you know me, you know I TRY to be a Christian who follows Matthew 25:  34-40.  (If you don't know it by now,go on and Google it.)  And I say try because I am far from being a perfect Christian  (is there such a thing?) or a perfect person.  (Again, I ask if there is such a thing.)  And even if I wasn't a Christian, even if I didn't believe, I'd still find the message of Jesus to be compelling.  IF nothing else, he was a man who cared about humanity.  A person who didn't care about what you looked like, or who you were. (Remember the whole eating with sinners and outcasts?).  The son of God or not (depending on what you believe), we are STILL talking about Jesus THOUSANDS of years later.  That is F'ing impressive.  (Forgive me Father, for I have not sinned, but I have cursed.)

And now I understand (and I don't understand much...remember I'm just a woman who "old" though nowhere near as old as the person who thinks he is running the country that we call America; the land that was once considered the land of the free and the home of the brave, but has turned into the land of liars and the home of those afraid to face a raving lunatic in diapers), the "leader" of our (once) great country has said that the Pope (that is the leader of the Catholic faith and a follower of Jesus Christ), is weak on crime and "terrible" for foreign policy.

Now, I am just a layperson, but I don't think the Pope has anything to do with crime and foreign policy.  That's not what the Pope does.  (And feel free to correct me if I'm wrong because as I keep saying, I am just a layperson and one that isn't even Catholic.)  It is MY understanding that the Pope, as the leader of the Catholic Church and a follower of Christ,  that he ISN'T political, but he IS Christian.  And as Christians, we are called not just to hold up the Bible for a photo up, but we are called to follow Christ.  And to me, a layperson, that means we should be feeding the hungry. clothing the naked, healing the sick (and not just posting an AI generated image in which we appear to do so) and care for those who are imprisoned. (and again we're not just talking about a physical prison, something which I am guessing a lot of people don't quite understand.)  As a matter of fact,it very clearly says in Matthew 6:24:  “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money."  I have to wonder WHO the Pope is serving and who the leader of the United States of America is,  because they seem to be diametrically opposed.  (Or maybe I'm getting it wrong...I'm rapidly reaching old age and I may not understand it all, but I am cognizant enough to realize that I may not understand absolutely everything and I am smart enough to admit that I don't get it all.)

When it comes down to it, although I am NOT a Catholic (have I said that enough?), I am a Christian and I do believe that the current Pope is as well.  And so I have more faith and confidence in this man who is doing his best to care for humanity, than I do for a man who has lied, cheated and stole from the human race (and I still can't get over the fact that this twice divorced man BURIED his first wife on a golf course...I mean that just screams WRONG to me, but what do I know I'm just a college educated old white woman who happens to believe that all people are created equal)

In a nutshell (and I'm sorry if this has taken you too long to read, but then again you don't have to; I'm not holding you hostage like someone in power  might be) I believe that the Pope is doing his job as a Christian.  And the leader of what was once the free world, is doing everything that someone who is Anti-Christian might (again, I'm not saying Anti Christ; I'm saying ANTI Christian...all these years later and my head is still spinning over a person SELLING a Bible for financial gain...that to me is NOT Christian).

Or maybe it's just that I'm a woman.  A woman who believes other women and who is tired of all this BS.  Aren't you?
