It's Monday, April 20th.
I woke up to temperatures in the upper 20s! I also woke up feeling rotten. I'm cold and I have a cold! Ugh.
None of this makes sense.
(Does it ever?)
Where did I pick up this darned cold? (And it's just a cold...not awful, but not
great.) Incubation for the common cold
is 1-3 days. I started to feel crappy
when I woke up on Sunday...which also happens to be the day when the temperature
started to plummet. I was fine Thursday,
Friday and Saturday. I was in the office and on public transportation) on
Tuesday and Wednesday, where I didn't always wear my mask because there weren't
that many people. (Wear the GD mask
Bfth!) I was also in ShopRite on
Wednesday night. Thursday and Friday I
didn't really leave the house. Saturday...
Well Saturday was a beautiful day. I (we) had to drive down to the clock repair
shop (https://bfthsboringblog.blogspot.com/2026/04/the-secret-of-old-clock.html). The antique mall in which it resides was full
of people and dusty items. Then it was
back up towards home stopping at Ollie's, Weis and Walmart. It was so nice out, that when we got home I
immediately went outside. I wanted to
soak up the sun and had a book to read. (Don't I always have a book to read?)
It was so warm out that I changed into shorts! It was a beautiful afternoon, although my
tablet (on which I was reading my book) was giving me some issues. It wasn't responding very well, which I
suppose was to be expected. I've had it
for a LONG time. It doesn't hold its
charge long and it takes a while to charge when I plug it in. I'd been thinking of replacing it and that
afternoon it had really been giving me some issues. (Yes, I'll admit that I was thinking of
tossing it into the pond, I was that frustrated! But I wouldn't do that to the fish.)
While I was outside, I spoke to my cousin on the phone. So to try to keep my tablet cooler/out of the
sun, I put it to the side of my chair.
And maybe (just maybe), I had part of it under my leg. (Can you see where this might be going?)
After our chat, I came back inside and that's when I
discovered that my table's screen was cracked.
And I mean really cracked. (Bfth,
what did you do?) Maybe I was
subconsciously forcing myself to get a new tablet?
Subconsciously or not, it was no longer usable. So...it was back to Walmart. But while they had a tablet on display that
would have fit my needs, they didn't have it in stock. So then it was on to Best Buy. Which meant partially retracing our drive from
the morning.
Thankfully Best Buy had what I needed. On our way home, we stopped at our localgrocery to pick up dinner.
What is the point of all this? Well I was around a lot of different people
on Saturday, but that seems too soon for me to have gotten a cold from any one
of the numerous people I encountered. Or
is it? (Feel free to chime in.)
When I woke up not feeling great on Sunday, I couldn't tell
if it was a cold or allergies, so I did go to church. However, I stayed away from people. (No physical
passing of the peace from me...I believe in sharing most things, but no
germs.)
I would have loved to have sat outside and soaked up some
vitamin D on Sunday, but it was raining.
And then it was SNOWING! Yes,
shorts on Saturday, snow on Sunday. Is
it any wonder I got sick? (No, I'm not
saying the weather gave me a cold; I'm saying the wacky weather with the
cold/hot/cold might have impacted my immune system.)
So here we are on Monday, April 20th. It's cold outside. (No snow though...at the moment it's
sunny.) And I've got a cold inside. Not a great start to the week, but...it could
be worse...I could have to spend some time at the DMV (or MVC as it's called in
NJ). That's an "adventure" for
later in the week. Let's hope I'm
feeling better then because that is definitely going to tax me!
