Is Anybody There?

 "Is anybody there?

"Does anybody care?

"Does anybody see what I see?"

Those are lyrics from 1776  sung by John Adams towards the end of the show when it looks like Independence will never happen.

Today those words echo in my head.  They scream in my head as a madman threatens that a "whole civilization will die tonight."

Now you may say Bfth, he isn't talking about us.  It's the middle east; it's not the US.

But it is US.  While it may be aimed at the specific area, how can you think it's NOT US?  Destroying a civilization or even just the threat of such (as the madman's ranting are often just that), can destroy us.  Are we stupid enough to think that such words or actions would not have consequences on all of us, no matter where we are in the world?

Is anybody there?  Does anybody care?

It seems to be that our government does not.  No one has acted.  And action is needed.  Actually we have passed that point...action should have been taken long ago.  And yet, here we are.

That Doomsday clock has got to be set to just a few seconds before midnight.  This could very well be the end.

Maybe I am overreaching?  But I am not overreacting.

And yet...does anybody care?

This great experiment started by our forefathers (who were very FLAWED men...which we need to be reminded of as well...they may have done some great things, but they were not demigods and in their movement to "do good" they also did a LOT of bad) seems to have come to a screeching halt.

We had a decent run of 250 years.  (Again, in no way perfect and never truly great.)  But it's being stomped out and our futures may be denied.

Does anybody care?

Will anyone act?  Or prevent an insane action?  What is the purpose of the 25th Amendment if we refuse to act on it?

Does anybody care?

I care.  I cared.

Since there is no way of knowing what might come next...

Thank you for reading.  Thank you for being human.  Thank you for trying.  Thank you for existing.

Hopefully tomorrow will be another day...an imperfect one, but another day.

No matter what, remember love is always better than hate.  Love should have been the answer, if only more had realized that.  If only more had let love in.

But now...is anybody there?
