Bfth's Week In Review: Sept16-20
It's been a crazy/hectic week for me. (Although I know for some of my friends this week would have been a walk in the park.) I feel like one of those wind-up toys that rushes across the floor, hits the wall, spins around, and then rushes in the next direction. (My husband says that's a Roomba and it is, but I know there were toys that did that too...back in the day...I am old.) I'm still not sure where I'm going, but here's where I've been.
Tuesday after being in the office all day, we had to head to
ShopRite. Yes, I prefer early morning
trips, but when I go to the office, I catch a bus that leaves before 7 and that
wouldn't give me enough time. I couldn't
wait until Friday morning (when I would be working remotely again), so Tuesday
night it was. While it was crazy in the
parking lot (particularly with one woman who wasn't watching her kids and was
parked right next to us), we managed to navigate our way through the store quickly.
And expensively (for just two people.) I
wanted to make sure hubby had enough food for the days that I would be away and
I wanted to make some dinners during the week.
(We've been ordering food way too much!)
I also had to fill up my gas tank (it's cheaper here in NJ). I went to my local Sunoco, which had been
closed and then reopened under new ownership only to switch over to another
brand three or so months in and then after a month or two switch back. (If that made your head spin, think of how
mine is!)
Wednesday, after work I had to run some errands with my
husband, but first I had to vote. Yes,
you read that right. On Wednesday,
September 18th, there was a special congressional election, not for the state,
but for the district in which I reside.
It was to fill a position till the end of the year. (In November, we will vote to fill this
position again for the new term). So this
was a very localized election; does it really matter? Hell yes!
EVERY election matters and I vote whenever I am eligible. (I cannot vote in primaries as I have no affliction
with any party.) As citizens, it is our
duty and a great privilege to elect our leaders. I, for one, will NEVER forget or forgo. (Sadly only about 1600 people in my town took
the time to vote; even though there was early voting available so that you
didn't have to go in specifically on that day.)
After voting, we ran errands, which for my part were mostly
fruitless. I wanted to run to the ATM,
but I forgot my card (that's what happens when you switch bags for an upcoming
trip) and I also wanted to pick up a bottle of diet soda, but the store closest
to the bank had very little choice and the prices! Guess, I'll have to run errands on Thursday
night too! (Ugh!)
Which brings me to Thursday.
My left knee had been bothering me a little. (Remember this:
https://bfthsboringblog.blogspot.com/2023/01/knees-up.html). I have several compression sleeves, so I
thought I'd throw one in my luggage.
Could I find one? (You know what
the answer is, don't you?) The one that
I had carried with me every in my laptop sleeve (since I do a lot of walking
when I head into the office), I had loaned to my husband when we were in the
Poconos, which is where he left it. The
other two have mysteriously disappeared.
(Perhaps they have joined the framed photo of the NJ house from 1924, my
Mickey Mouse head ring, my two "ring guards" and one of my
silver/gold hoop earrings. Talk about
frustration...they HAVE to be somewhere, but WHERE?) So it was back out again. This time I brought my ATM card and got some
cash. Then it was on to CVS (again) get
a knee support sleeve. (The cheapest that they had on the shelf, which still
isn't cheap.) I put it on immediately
and it seemed to help. (It's all in the
mind you know.) Then it was on to a
different grocery store (because 2 in one week is not enough) to get soda (when
did the prices go up and why did I not notice before?) and rice (because you
always need to have rice in the house) before finally heading home.
Today/Friday: I am
working from home and trying to get everything set up for tomorrow's early
morning travel. I tried to be organized
and pack early and now I can't remember all of what I packed. (And I'm loath to open everything up and go
looking.) I previously confirmed my car
pick up for tomorrow morning (when it will be pitch black out), checked in for
my flight (and printed out the boarding pass...did I really need to do
that? Shouldn't I just use the app?) and
received my boarding pass for my shuttle from the airport to the hotel. (I'm already pre-checked in there as well as
I will be arriving WAY before official check in time...or at least I hope I
will!) So I should be good. (Then why am I starting to panic?)
Here's hoping next week (which starts tomorrow for me), will
be one of fun and relaxation.
(Relaxation? In Disney
World? Is that possible.) I'm sure I'll have lots of tales to tell when
I get back. Hopefully all good ones,
but...
