It was a Beautiful weekend...
Because:
- It was sunny and warm, but
not too hot. The stars and the moon shone bright at night.
- Our friend played his monthly
gig at our local bar and grill, where there were more people than usual
who requested unusual songs and as a result the music just went on and on.
- A friend was ordained a
Deacon in the Episcopal Church. The church was full of family and
friends. Multiple languages were spoken. A funny, but sadly relevant
sermon was given. There was singing. There was music.
There were leis. There were a few tears. There was food and
wine. (Wine which amused me since the label was Sh!tshow and I feel
that I must get some for my house.)
- I got my car washed by a
local Boy Scout troop; even though it was the troop leader who did most of
the work.
- I made a new
"friend" when I went to church, someone I thought I recognized
and it turns out he and his wife live just a block or so away from
me. He knew the former owners of our house (not to be confused with
the people who sold the house to us) and we shared some stories
- My husband had pumpkin spice
coffee waiting for me when I got home. Even though there wasn't that
much left in the pot.
- We went up to Skytop for
the fall festival. The south lawn was full of vendors and
people. The sun was high in the sky. We sat on the
porch. (There's nothing like sitting on that porch.) I walked
around. I bought way too many bottles of wine. (What can
I say, I support local.) I actually
saw some bottles of Sh!tshow for sale, but they were all dry wines, and I
am a little and fruity person (as if you couldn’t tell), so I had to
pass. But I WILL find the sweet(ish)
one that they produce sometime. In
the meantime, my wine fridge overflowth.
(Is that a bad thing?)
It was a beautiful weekend not because I DID all those
things, but because I was part of them. It was because I got to
experience them.
But it is there. We have to let ourselves find it. We have to let ourselves enjoy it. We have to let ourselves embrace it.

Beth, not boring! Your words show appreciation for the people and the lovely things that bring joy to our lives!
