Survey: Which is the Most Ridiculous?

It's a world full of insanity and (sorry to say it) stupidity.  But let's look at the "lighter" side of it. Below I list several actual and personal events.  You tell me which is the most ridiculous!

  • I sent a care package to my son on Wednesday afternoon.  I sent it ground because it was the most economical. (Not that USPS ground is that economical.)  Just to be clear it was mailed at 12:23 PM on August 27th from the Poconos with a final destination of Staten Island.  Here's where it went:
    • It left the Poconos on the morning of the 28th and went to the Lehigh Valley USPS distribution center.  That makes sense...it's south of us and so is Staten Island, so definitely a good start
    • That evening it went to the USPS distribution center in Harrisburg, PA.  That's over 100 miles WEST of where it was.  (Staten Island is EAST.)
    • The next day (29th)  it left Harrisburg at 2:34 in the morning and ended up in Brooklyn at 8:01 in the morning.  We're getting closer!  This is good, but...
    • That night it leaves Brooklyn and heads not across the bridge and into Staten Island, but up about 15 miles to Queens.
    •  The following night (after spending the day in Queens), it goes back to Brooklyn.
    • It sits in Brooklyn for a day before finally going to Staten Island Saturday night
    • It sits at the Staten Island regional center on Sunday.  Then today, Labor Day, a Federal Holiday, the update is this note:  "We were unable to deliver your package at 7:22 am on September 1, 2025 in STATEN ISLAND, NY 10301 because the business was closed. We will redeliver on the next business day. No action needed."
    • Fingers crossed that it will appear at the school's mailroom tomorrow and that my son will finally get the package I sent.  In case you're curious, this is what it's travel route looked like (I badly tried to add in the numbers)

  • I attempted to post all of this above, cutting and pasting from the USPS website on Threads on Saturday.  Guess what that got me?

    • As I have mentioned previously, I had purchased a sugar bowl (along with several other pieces because they were part of a package) at a local yard sale.  I really liked the pattern, so I ended up buying a service for eight from the company's website:  https://www.pfaltzgraff.com/collections/yorktowne.  Once I got it and found that I liked it, I went back to the site to buy a few more pieces.  (And then later I went to the local thrift shop and found a teapot and coffee pot for a $1!  Yes, I snagged it.)  On the same day, on the same site, my husband also ordered a few pieces.  This was August 22nd.  The items were coming from South Jersey.  Mine was shipped via UPS and arrived here on August 25th.  My husband's was shipped via USPS and supposedly made it as far as Allentown, where it had been sitting for several days.  Today, when he check it had finally left Allentown (which is about 50 miles south), but we don't know where it is because it's:  In Transit to Next Facility.  Where is that next facility?  Who knows?  Why did his package stay in Allentown for so long?  (Not that it's not a nice place; it is.  I went to school there.)  Who knows?  Will it get here?  Who knows?
    • On Saturday I went for a walk and stopped at several yard/garage sales.  At one, there was a rather large wall clock for sale.   I really liked it, but wanted to think about it.  So I told the seller I would probably be back for it, but not to hold it because if someone snatched it up before I came back it wasn't meant to be.  As it turns out, I never went back that day.  But Sunday I decided to go for a walk again and headed in the same direction.  The clock was still there, so I bought it.  And I decided to carry it home.  From the location to our house is about 3/4ths of a mile, part of which was uphill.  Imagine it...little lady carrying big clock (not heavy, but unwieldy) up a hill and down the road. How silly did I look and what did the vehicles that passed me think?  (There were several that went by me.) I did manage to text my husband and he met me by the mailbox so he could take it the last tenth of a mile home. I will say that it looks rather nice on the back of our house.

    • Finally, as you may know (if you've read this blog), our house in PA is on a private road (much of which is unpaved) that ends just past our house.  There is a drivable path from our house to our neighbor's, but the path ends at their driveway.  However, their driveway, like ours, is a horseshoe.  So if you go around on the driveway, you will end up back on a drivable path, which does become the private and unpaved road again, leading to another road.  My neighbor has a sign up that says it's private property and there are also two saw horses in the driveway to prevent vehicles from going in.  (Although I swear once someone got out of their car and moved them to continue on.  How rude!)  If you get that far, you will need to back up all the way to get out.  Some people back up all the way to the entrance of the road.  Other's use our driveway as a turning point.  (Not happy about that, but...)  In order to combat this, my husband put up an official looking pole and small sign that says:  Dead End.  Private Road. No soliciting.  No Trespassing.  It worked, somewhat, but it is smallish.  So I bought two "lawn signs" which you can see here.

The final one is right before the road ends and becomes a path.  Some people have caught on.  They go as far as the first sign and back up.  Others blatantly ignore them.  On Sunday evening, one person obviously saw the first one.  They slowed down.  And then kept going.  They went past the second sign all the way down to my neighbor's sign and driveway.  Where they finally got the message and slowly backed all the way up and out of the street.  Is reading optional?  As the song goes:  "sign, sign, everywhere, a sign..."Do this," "Don't do that" Can't you read the sign?"

So if you've read this far, which of the above is the most ridiculous?  Cast your vote now...or not because I have to admit to me it's an impossible choice to make.
