Stress-Filled Saturday

Full Disclosure:  I am  a total and complete mess as I write this.  I am an emotional wreck.  I am frustrated to tears (which makes things even more frustrating).  I am sick with anxiety.  If you could rate my current stress on a scale from 1-10, I would be at 11.

So what is going on?  Let's backtrack to Thursday, March 6th shall we?

On Thursday, March 6th around 6 PM, my husband and I walked into the UPS store in Mount Pocono, PA. I have been to this location a couple of times since September.  (The former owner of the house we bought left some items behind that she did not intend to...I sent them to her via UPS and all was well with the world.)  On this particular day, we had packed up all our tax documents, and were going to ship them to our accountant in NJ.  We discussed the various shipping methods with the woman at the counter as well as costs and decided that the most cost effective way to get the package from PA to NJ would be to have them arrive on Monday.  We left the package, took the receipt with tracking info and that was that.

But you know it wasn't right?

I ASSumed that the package arrived on Monday.  I didn't hear from the accountant, but hey, it's the busy season.  Then on Friday I got an email from one of the places that provides me with tax documentation saying that there was going to be an update to their information and that it wouldn't be available until the first week in April.  Major inconvenience, but...

Doing my due diligence, I let our accountant know that this last document would be late.  And then he let me know that he hadn't received the package I mentioned.  Since I was in NJ and my husband was in PA with the receipt and tracking info, I asked him to look into it.  The package had left Mount Pocono the evening of March 6th and arrived in Stroudsburg, PA that night.  (It's not that far away.)  After that it says:  On the Way

Delay

Stroudsburg, PA, United States

03/06/2025, 7:55 P.M.

However, at the top of the website (under the tracking number)  it says: Estimated delivery

Iinformation not available.

We’re sorry for the inconvenience. If you are the sender, please check with the receiver to confirm delivery. Otherwise, you may start a claim to provide a resolution.

Let's just say that this was NOT just an inconvenience.  My husband called the Mount Pocono store, but they were closed for the day.  He left a message.  I tried to go online and get some assistance, but let's just say that it did not go well...the person I spoke to confirmed that it was "misplaced" and I would need to file a claim.  I don't want to file a claim, I want them to open an investigation.  In order to do that, we have to contact the store where we dropped off the package.  And that store is closed until Monday.

In the meantime, I am trying to get copies of all the documents that we had included in the package.  (In hindsight, I should have probably written everything down and made copies of everything, but I didn't so...)

I spent most of the day trying to get copies of those documents.  Going to various websites and logging on (which presented challenges too) and downloading forms.  Trust me it was incredibly frustrating.

However, it was not as frustrating as trying to get a form from my son's bank.  He could log into the bank app, but forms don't seem to be available there.  If he goes to the website, it won't let him log in with the same info he uses on the app. (Don't ask, I don't know why.)  As a result he got locked out of the app and that caused a whole lot of issues and angst.  It only took about an hour to get him back into the app and then to call the customer help line where they asked a ton of questions, which we could answer, but not immediately  (the kid needs to memorize his social security number).  I do have to say that the customer service rep at the bank was very nice and patient.  They will be mailing another copy of the form that we need.  (Fingers crossed that the mailman actually delivers it.)

I am still missing some documents (like the 1099s from my son's summer jobs), but we've put the call out and hopefully we will be able to get them soon. (Say a Prayer)

Or maybe UPS will actually find the package? (Say a lot of prayers...please!)

I'm not counting on it...

This was definitely not the way that I wanted to spend my Saturday...

Keep those prayers and good thoughts coming. Not just to find the package, but for me to keep my sanity. (It's going fast).

UPDATE:  No, I don't have good news (so keep those prayers going).  The manager at the store spoke to my husband and the woman in customer service gave me outdated information.  (Thanks UPS).  The stores do not do claims.  We HAVE to file a claim in order for them to investigate.  So we've filed a claim.  I don't want the money...I want my package found and gotten to the receiver ASAP.   I'll continue to say my prayers and hope you will too.  Needless to say, I'm really disappointed in UPS, which is favored carrier (or at least it used to be).
