Good Bye April

It's the last day of April. And I'm hoping it's the last day (or nearly the last day) of cold weather.  We keep getting hints of spring and then the temperature goes down and my heating system turns on.  With gas prices being at historic highs (you know why and you know who to thank), every time I hear it click on I start to stress.  (I also stressed when I filled my car's gas tank yesterday, other than after Hurricane Kristina in 2005, I don't think I've ever seen prices quite so high and we all know they aren't going any time soon!)

It's also kind of funny that I just scheduled A/C maintenance for next week.  (Don't want a rerun of last year when we turned on the A/C on the first really hot day and nothing happened!)  Also funny is that I also need to schedule a heating tune up for the fall for the NJ house (which has no A/C system).  Yes, they want me to schedule it now...so I will.

This is also the last day of classes for my son.  Junior year is over!  One more year of tuition and...Well who knows?  I know going for a Masters wouldn't be a bad thing, but...Who knows how things will end up?  Right now he just has to focus on exams and final projects.  (It seems like it's more about projects for him which is a good thing as those seem to have more of a real world application...but again, what do I know?)  He'll be home for summer before I know it.  (And summer employment is still kind of up in the air...as are internships.  Oh, how I LOVE uncertainty...sigh.)

Since he has so much stuff at school, my husband and I are actually driving out this weekend to pick up the fridge.  (We are not going to have a repeat of:  https://bfthsboringblog.blogspot.com/2025/08/fridge-issues.html)  We hope to also fill the car with things he doesn't need (like winter clothing, although as I've said, it's still pretty chilly out there) and art supplies.  (One of his professors is "retiring" and giving away canvases and other supplies.)  I'd like to fill the car and bring everything back to NJ so that when I (we?) pick him up a week or so later, it's less stressful. (Ha!)  There's just so much stuff!

Speaking of stress, with us picking up as much stuff as we can and then unloading it in NJ, you KNOW there's going to be some angry shouting and frustration.  The two of us trying to get a mini-fridge (which is not so mini) into the house is not going to be pretty.  So don't be alarmed if you hear yelling late Saturday morning/early afternoon.  It's just us; being us.

We're also going to a party late Saturday afternoon, but that's way up in North NJ (almost to the NY border), which I know will be fun.  However, we have to drive back to PA that night.  Now normally with all that driving (and all that costly gas), I might take a day off and stay in PA, but...I've got a doctor/lab appointment, so...  Clearly I didn't plan things out so well.  (On the other hand, I scheduled this appointment a year ago.)

As the clouds roll in (rain in the forecast; just in time for the weekend, so much for any outdoor fun this afternoon), I'll wrap up my final post for April.  (Yes, I'm DONE with April!)  Let's move into May with warm sunshine and hope for a brighter tomorrow!
