I'm Over It
(This may be a
companion piece to https://bfthsboringblog.blogspot.com/2026/02/get-over-it.html or
not...)
There was a blizzard the
other day. My neck of the Poconos didn't get too much. (I'm not sure how
to define too much...at this point I feel like anything over an inch is too
much!) NJ got way too much. (Just as the sidewalks were clearing
and I could actually cross the street to get to the bus stop without climbing
over mountains of snow.) My son's campus got over a foot of snow and once
again there are no classes today. (I understand why, but still it's an
annoyance.) This winter has been brutal. It started before it
officially started (with heavy snow at the end of November) and just keeps
going. I've seen snow (even though some days had little or no
accumulation) for 5 days in a row. I'm over it. I am REALLY over it.
While there are plenty
of things that I am NOT over (gun violence/mass shootings, the lack of justice
for victims of sexual abuse, etc.), there is much I AM over.
- I'm over blatant lies. Just because you say
something doesn't make it true. If it did, I would be a youthful
thin billionaire. I can say it. I am a youthful thin
billionaire. Do you believe me? If you saw me you'd know it's
not true. (No matter how I might wish it be so.) You'd believe
what you see. You'd believe the facts. I can keep saying it,
but it is a blatant lie. And I am over being lied to. I am not
stupid (neither are you). Lie and I'm calling you (or whoever)
out. I'm over it.
- I'm over "isms". That means plagiarism,
cronyism, racism, sexism, Fascism, terrorism...to name but a few.
I'm sure there are some "good" "isms" out there, but I
can't think of any right now. (If you can name a good/non-offensive
one, give me a shout out.) I'm tired of it. It's BS and it's
wrong. I'm over it.
- I'm over cruelty. It's not necessary.
Period. You can do your job without being cruel. You can live
your life without being cruel. It serves no purpose and does
not make ANYTHING better. (Actually it makes you an A**hole, but...) It's
not necessary. (IT'S NOT NECESSARY!) I'm over it.
- I'm over hypocrisy. There are too many hypocrites
out there. (Confession: at times I've been one.) Remember,
John 8:7 (see I can quote the Bible too). Don't preach to me about
Christianity while you are ignoring all that Christ stood for and asked us
to do. I'm over it.
- I'm over (purposeful) ignorance and stupidity. Burying
your head in the sand doesn't make it go away. We all need balanced
lives and I realize that means turning off the news and taking a break
from the world, but we can't just ignore what is going on around us.
We need to be informed. And we need reputable and verifiable
information. (Which is getting more and more difficult every
day.) We can't be spoon-fed slop. And we shouldn't accept
it. We CANNOT accept it. I'm over it.
- I'm also over judgement. (Again I'll admit
that I can be judgmental. I'm trying to stop it because too many
times I've come to realize that you really CAN'T judge a book by the
cover.) Get your own house in order and stop judging your fellow
human. (Unless you are an actual judge...then it's your job).
I'm over it.
- I'm over lack of accountability. If it's your
job; do it. Don't just sit around complaining and sitting on your hands
worrying about how you will look or what the public will think. Do
your job! Do it properly. Do it legally. Do it
responsibly. Do it RIGHT! Playing the blame game doesn't
work. You screw up; own it. (If I can do it, so can
you.) Everyone, no matter who they are (Prince or pauper,
President or immigrant) needs to be accountable for their actions and held
to them. I am SO over the lack of accountability.
- I'm over incompetent individuals being in positions of
power and making decisions/statements that hurt others because of they are
unqualified to do so. I took a sign language course once that does
not mean I am qualified to be an ASL interpreter. I played a doctor
in a play once; it doesn't make me a doctor or even a professional actor.
Medical decisions should be made by medical professionals, not lawmakers
or insurance companies. We deserve and we NEED competent, educated people
in positions that they are qualified for. Those who are not...I'm
OVER it.
- I'm over retribution. Just stop it! And see
bullet point three. I'm over it. I'm over it! I'M OVER IT.
At this point, I'm
guessing you're over it too. So what are we going to do? It's plain that we need to do something. Because we're over it.
