April IS the Cruelest Month!

I think this photo says it all.  April is CRUEL.

Now, I know it's not a lot of snow.  It's just a dusting, but...

I mean, at the end of March we had one glorious day where I could actually be outside.  I could actually open the windows. The heat didn't have to come on.  Spring was here.  The flowers were blooming and now this?

Now, I KNOW it can snow in April.  It's done so before.  I can actually recall a few flakes in May of 2020.  (May 9th to be exact.  It didn't even make a dusting, but I was out walking that day and snow did actually fall from the sky!)  However, this is unnecessary!

2025 thus far has been a particularly tumultuous year.  I think we can all agree that we've faced some real lows and very few highs.  But still we keep going.  As for me, I've had an eye allergy, a stomach bug and now seemingly yet another cold.  (This despite wearing a mask every time I take public transportation to the office...maybe I should be wearing it more often?)  I've had UPS lose the package that contained my tax information.  (They refunded my money for sending it, but never found my package...or if they did they never told me.  Somehow, with hard work we managed to get all of the copies info we needed to our accountant.)  I've had tree limbs fall in my driveway.  I've "discovered" little issues about the house that are adding up to costs that I didn't anticipate.  (Yes, I can make things look ideal in photos, but behind the scenes there is a different story.  Remember, social media rarely shows the full/true story.)  There have been literal roadblocks.  (Yes, I'm talking about sinkholes.)  We've muddled through, but it's been rough.

We're just about mid-way through April.  (Tuesday will be the actual mid-point.  Don't forget to get your tax returns in.  We had to wait until yesterday [don't ask why we couldn't turn everything in earlier...it's a long story] to file our returns which was painful enough, but writing those checks to the government was REALLY painful.  REALLY!)  We need a break.  We need some real spring weather.  No more snow.  No more cold and damp.  No more crazy.

We need some sanity.  We need some moderate weather.  We need some sunshine.  We need some flowers.  (Not flowers with snow on them.)  We need renewal.  We need to be refreshed.  We need sunshine, warmth and hope.

(And I need to get rid of this cold and feel good/be healthy.)

Here's hoping that we've gotten over the hump of the cruelest month and that soon there will be sunny days where we can sweep our cares away and be on our way to where the air is sweet.  (If you know where that's from, we are or can be friends.)

Update:  The snow was gone by the end of the day.  However, this morning (Saturday)  this is what I woke to:

I'd like to note that it's still coming down.  It is possible that we may get two inches (though probably not).  It doesn't matter how much we actually get (well, maybe it does because if we get an inch or more I'm going to completely freak out)...this is an insult to injury.  I NEED (we NEED) Spring!
