Welcome Spring?
Spring officially arrives (or arrived, depending on when you are reading this) today. (Unless you are on the opposite of the world, like my cousins, in which case, welcome to autumn.) Welcome Spring! I've missed you so much! I am so ready for you!
I am ready for my heat not to turn on at 6 in the morning. (Like an alarm
clock.)
I am ready for my feet not to freeze when I get out of bed and they hit the
bedroom floor. (Although I will be eternally grateful for the heated bathroom
floor. Total genius.)
I am ready to go back outside and walk for exercise rather than
"walking" inside. (I've been doing Leslie Sansone's walk-outs
for decades. Love them, but I am ready to get some fresh air.)
I am ready to NOT wear layers. Yes I love my sweaters (and they
can hide a multitude of flaws), but I am ready to go back to skirts (even with
my veiny legs) and blouses (even those with no sleeves...so what if my arm fat
wobbles?).
I am ready to smell like sunscreen. (I don't wear enough sun
screen...I know...I know.) The scent is perfume to my nose.
I am ready to open windows. (And I did on those two blessed days when
we had "fool's spring" and the temperatures were in the 70s. It
was HEAVEN. And then we crashed back down.)
I am ready for the remaining snow (and yes, there is still some bits of it)
to melt away. I am also ready to not walk up and see that there has been
a dusting overnight. (Yes, it melts before noon, but it's still a slap in
the face.)
I am ready to see growth outside. Yes, there is some green, but I am
ready for blossoms to bloom. I am ready for a spring clean-up. (I
am hoping my new land care company will come out in the next few weeks.
The owner of the company I have used in the past is being deployed...you know
who we can thank for that.) I am ready to try and grow something
again. (I never do really well with that, but...)
I am ready to move to my "outside office" (aka a chair and
table on the patio). Let me put up that umbrella so I can keep the laptop
cool and so I can see the screen. Let me work away with the birds
chirping behind me and the chipmunks scurrying around. (Although I want
to keep the groundhog out!)
I am ready to commune with our fish. The pond is not yet
"open" (it's covered with netting for the winter), but hopefully with
lighter (and warmer) days the pond company will be coming to do the spring
clean and open. (The water is pretty murky.) I want to see those
orange and black guys swimming around. (Do I invest in turtles again this
year? If I do, will they actually STAY in the pond so I can see them?)
I'm ready for cocktails in the yard. (Though I have given up alcohol
for Lent so no matter what the temperatures are I still have a few weeks to
go.) I'm ready to dine "al fresco."
I'm ready. I'm ready! I'M READY!
Come and get me spring. You offer so many good things. (I'm not going
to talk about pollen and allergies...let's ignore that for now shall we?)
We NEED some good things. We need to celebrate all that spring and the
warmer months have to offer.
Come on in Spring! Go on and impress me. Impress us! We
are READY!
